How it is used
- To hold office / serve in a post - 他在外交部任职 (tā zài wàijiāobù rènzhí) he works at the foreign ministry.
- Verb, often 在 X 任职 (serve at X) or 任职于. Slightly formal way to say where one is employed.
- Contrast 就职 (jiùzhí, to take up a post, the moment of assuming office); 任职 is the ongoing state of holding it.
