How it is used
- Willful, doing whatever one pleases regardless of others - 你别这么任性 (nǐ bié zhème rènxìng) don't be so willful.
- Usually mildly critical (a spoiled child, stubborn adult). Note reading rènxìng.
- Internet-era twist: 有钱就是任性 (yǒu qián jiùshì rènxìng) 'rich enough to do as I please' - half-joking about indulgence.
