How it is used
- 'Any, whatever' - a determiner before a noun, common in emphatic or negative statements: 任何人都可以 (rènhé rén dōu kěyǐ) anyone can; 没有任何问题 (méiyǒu rènhé wèntí) no problem at all.
- Usually paired with 都/也 for 'any... at all': 任何时候 (rènhé shíhou) at any time.
- More formal/emphatic than plain 什么 (shénme); it stresses 'without exception'.
