How it is used
- An economic sector or industry as a whole - 旅游产业 (lǚyóu chǎnyè) the tourism industry; 产业链 (chǎnyèliàn) industrial chain.
- Contrasts with 工业 (gōngyè, manufacturing industry): 产业 is the wider term covering any sector, including 服务业 services and agriculture.
- A second meaning is 'property/estate' (assets one owns), as in 家族产业 (jiāzú chǎnyè) family estate.
