How it is used
- Books collectively, as a category - 参考书籍 (cānkǎo shūjí) reference books; 大量书籍 (dàliàng shūjí) a large quantity of books.
- An uncountable, formal mass noun; you don't count it with 本. For a specific countable book use 书 (shū) - 一本书.
- 籍 is a bound morpheme (register/records); note it also appears in 国籍 nationality.
