How it is used
- Directional 'go up' - motion upward and away from the speaker: 你上去吧 (nǐ shàngqù ba) go on up.
- Contrast 上来 (shànglái, come up): 去 = away from where the speaker is, 来 = toward the speaker.
- Often a complement on another verb: 爬上去 (pá shàngqù) climb up, 走上去 (zǒu shàngqù) walk up.
