How it is used
- The pattern 一边 A 一边 B = doing two things at once - 一边吃饭一边看电视 (yībiān chīfàn yībiān kàn diànshì) eat while watching TV.
- Also a plain noun "one side" - 站在一边 (zhàn zài yībiān) stand to one side, 一边...一边... marking two sides/hands.
- In the simultaneous-action sense it's often clipped to 边...边... in speech (边走边说 talk while walking).
