How it is used
- Adverb of one-track excess: 'blindly / persistently doing only X' with a critical tone - 一味迁就孩子 (yíwèi qiānjiù háizi) to indulge a child unthinkingly, 不能一味追求速度 (bùnéng yíwèi zhuīqiú sùdù) you can't blindly chase speed alone.
- Always negative: it flags stubbornly doing one thing while ignoring what else matters. Not 'flavor' here despite 味.
- Near 一昧 (variant) and 盲目 (mángmù, blindly); 一味 stresses single-minded persistence in the wrong thing.
