颠 diān peak

源How it came to be

The truly block, a pot filled to the brim, with a head beside it. It is the top of a person's head, then the top of anything, then falling from it.

用How it is used

• To jolt/bump, and to overturn: 颠簸 (diānbǒ) to be jolted (of a bumpy ride/flight), 颠倒 (diāndǎo) to turn upside down/reverse.
• 颠覆 (diānfù) to subvert/overturn - 颠覆传统 (diānfù chuántǒng) to upend tradition.
• 颠倒黑白 (diāndǎo-hēibái) 'to invert black and white' = to distort the truth completely, call wrong right.
