A head drawn on a body: a face under its hair, over two legs. The page sense came much later and was borrowed.

用How it is used

• Means "page" and is also the measure word for pages: 第三页 (dì sān yè) page three, 一页纸 (yì yè zhǐ) one sheet.
• Everyday digital use: 网页 (wǎngyè) web page, 主页 (zhǔyè) homepage.
• Note the reading is yè - the same syllable as 业/夜, so listen for context.
