隐 yǐn to hide
to hide; to conceal; secret; hidden
How it came to be
A mound, with hands over a worried heart beside it. Somebody has gone behind a hill to be out of sight. The mound is the cover and the heart is the reason.
How it is used
- To hide/conceal, and hidden/latent. 隐藏 (yǐncáng) to hide (something), 隐瞒 (yǐnmán) to conceal facts from someone - 隐瞒真相 (yǐnmán zhēnxiàng) to cover up the truth.
- 隐私 (yǐnsī) privacy (personal secrets), 隐患 (yǐnhuàn) a hidden danger/latent risk, 隐形 (yǐnxíng) invisible. 隐藏 is hiding a thing; 隐瞒 is withholding information from a person.
