How it is used

  • "To stand" - 站起来 (zhàn qǐlái) stand up, 站着 (zhànzhe) be standing. Opposite of 坐 (zuò, sit), 坐着 (zuòzhe) be sitting.
  • Also "a station/stop" - 车站 (chēzhàn) bus/train station, 下一站 (xià yí zhàn) next stop; and metaphorically a 网站 (wǎngzhàn) website.
