  • To swish food in boiling broth to cook it - 涮羊肉 (shuàn yángròu) hotpot-style boiled mutton, 涮火锅 (shuàn huǒguō) to eat hotpot.
  • Also to rinse (涮碗 shuàn wǎn) and, colloquially, to trick/make a fool of someone (涮人 shuàn rén).
