源How it came to be

A tree with a mark across the trunk, pointing at its core. Some trees are red inside, and the mark says 'look here'. The source and end blocks use the same trick.

用How it is used

• Vermilion, cinnabar red - 朱红 (zhūhóng) vermilion, 朱门 (zhūmén) the red gate of a wealthy household, hence the rich.
• Also a very common surname (朱). Standalone 'red' in speech is 红 (hóng), not 朱.
