丐 gài beggar
How it came to be
A figure leaning forward with the arm out, drawn low and reaching. The stoop is the character: a posture, not a person, so the same word means to beg and to give alms.
How it is used
- Essentially bound to one word: 乞丐 (qǐgài) beggar. It rarely appears alone.
- Learn it as the second half of 乞丐 rather than as a standalone character.
