- About, regarding - introduces a topic, usually at the front of the sentence: 关于这件事，我不知道 (guānyú zhè jiàn shì, wǒ bù zhīdào) about this matter, I don't know.
- Contrast 对于 (duìyú, with regard to), which points at an object/attitude; 关于 marks subject matter, like a title or heading - 关于中国的书 (guānyú Zhōngguó de shū) a book about China.
- Not interchangeable with the verb 关心 (guānxīn, to care about).
