- In the past/formerly - 以往的经验 (yǐwǎng de jīngyàn) past experience, 和以往一样 same as before.
- 以往 refers to former times generally; contrast 以前 (yǐqián, before/ago, more everyday) and 过去 (the past).
- 以往 is slightly more formal and often used attributively: 以往的做法 the previous approach.
