- The personal friendship/rapport built up between people - 我们交情很深 (wǒmen jiāoqing hěn shēn) we go way back, 老交情 (lǎo jiāoqing) an old friendship.
- 情 is toned neutral (jiāoqing). Focuses on the accumulated bond/relationship, whereas 友谊 (yǒuyì, friendship) is more abstract and formal.
- Often invoked when calling on that bond: 看在交情上 (kàn zài jiāoqing shàng) for old times' sake.
