- A flash of light, and a quick dodge. Light: 闪电 (shǎndiàn) lightning, 闪烁 (shǎnshuò) to twinkle/flicker, 闪光 (shǎnguāng) a flash.
- Movement: 闪开 (shǎnkāi) to get out of the way, 闪身 to dodge aside. Slang 闪了 = I'm off/gotta run, and 闪婚 (shǎnhūn) a flash marriage.
