郎 láng gentleman
gentleman; young man
How it came to be
The good block, the good grain that falls through, beside a city. A man from a place worth naming: it was a court title before it was a way to address someone.
用法
- Very bound, essentially fossilized in one modern word: 新郎 xīnláng "bridegroom," always paired with 新娘 xīnniáng "bride."
- It historically meant "young gentleman" and survives in old poetry and idioms, but you won't meet it standing alone in everyday speech.
