用法
- Bound, formal character for a solemn promise. Its core word is 承诺 (chéngnuò) to pledge/commit - 他信守承诺 (tā xìnshǒu chéngnuò) he keeps his promise.
- Also 诺言 (nuòyán) a spoken promise, and the idiom 一诺千金 (yí nuò qiān jīn) a promise worth a thousand pieces of gold - i.e. someone whose word is trustworthy.
- Weightier than everyday 答应 (dāying, to agree/say yes); 诺 implies a binding commitment.
