- Rare/scarce - 罕见 (hǎnjiàn) rarely seen/uncommon: 罕见的现象 a rare phenomenon.
- 稀罕 (xīhan) = rare, or 'to treasure/care for': 我不稀罕 I couldn't care less about it.
- 罕见 is more formal/written than 少见; both mean seldom encountered.
- 人迹罕至 (rénjì-hǎnzhì) = seldom visited by people / remote.
