用法
- Bound morpheme of surprise/contrariness. 竟然 (jìngrán) marks that what follows is unexpected: 他竟然忘了 (tā jìngrán wàng le) he actually forgot!
- 毕竟 (bìjìng) = after all / when all's said: 毕竟他还是孩子 (bìjìng tā háishì háizi) after all, he's still a kid.
- 究竟 (jiūjìng) presses for the real answer: 究竟怎么回事 (jiūjìng zěnme huí shì) what on earth is going on.
