- To pay attention to / take notice of - almost always negated: 不睬 (bù cǎi) to ignore, 理睬 (lǐcǎi) to acknowledge/heed - 没人理睬他 (méi rén lǐcǎi tā) nobody paid him any attention, 不理不睬 (bùlǐ-bùcǎi) to give the cold shoulder.
