How it came to be
A rock face on the left with steps cut into it, and on the right a hand swinging a hammer. Somebody is cutting stone, and what comes off the face is a piece.
用法
- A section or stretch - of text (段落 duànluò, paragraph), road (路段 lùduàn), or time (时段 shíduàn).
- Also the measure word for a segment: 一段路 (yí duàn lù) a stretch of road, 一段时间 (yí duàn shíjiān) a period of time, 一段话 a passage of speech.
- 阶段 (jiēduàn) means stage/phase in a process: 初级阶段 (chūjí jiēduàn) the initial stage.
- 手段 (shǒuduàn) is 'means/method' and often carries a scheming tone - 不择手段 (bùzé-shǒuduàn) by any means necessary.
