- Calamity/disaster brought upon someone - 遭殃 (zāoyāng), to be struck by disaster / suffer for it: 城门失火，殃及池鱼 (chéngmén shīhuǒ, yāng jí chíyú), a city-gate fire dooms the fish in the moat, i.e. innocent bystanders get dragged in (祸国殃民 to bring ruin on the nation).
