末 mò end

源How it came to be

A tree with a mark drawn across the very top of it, pointing at the thin end of the branches. It is the exact opposite of source, which puts the same mark at the root.

用用法

• 'End/tip', the far point of something - 周末 (zhōumò) weekend, 期末 (qīmò) end of term, 月末 (yuèmò) end of month.
• Visually distinguish from 未 (wèi, not yet): 末 has the longer stroke on top. Same shape, opposite feel.
• Also 'powder/tiny bits' - 粉末 (fěnmò) powder, 茶末 (chámò) tea dust.
