How it came to be
A hand beside the stand block, somebody standing, there for the sound. There is no old form before the seal script: the character is a late one, built from a hand and a sound.
用法
- To pull / drag - 拉门 (lā mén) pull the door, opposite of 推 (tuī) push, 推门 (tuī mén) push the door.
- Also 'to play' bowed string instruments: 拉小提琴 (lā xiǎotíqín) play the violin.
