How it came to be
A figure holding a carpenter's square, with the tool drawn so large it fills the character and the person nearly disappears behind it. The size of the square is what the drawing is about.
用法
- 巨 is a bound intensifier meaning huge/gigantic, almost never alone - it pairs with 大 to make the everyday word 巨大 (jùdà).
- 这是个巨大的挑战 (zhè shì gè jùdà de tiǎozhàn) - this is a huge challenge.
- 巨头 (jùtóu) literally "giant head" is used metaphorically for a business tycoon or industry giant, e.g. 科技巨头 (kējì jùtóu) tech giant.
- 艰巨 (jiānjù) "formidable, arduous" describes a task, not a physical size.
