How it came to be
A hand with a mark struck across it: a blemish, something out of the ordinary on a plain thing. Standing out from the rest is how it came to mean the one that stands out.
用法
- Bound; "especially." 尤其 (yóuqí) = especially/particularly: 我喜欢水果,尤其是芒果 (wǒ xǐhuan shuǐguǒ, yóuqí shì mángguǒ) I like fruit, especially mango.
- 尤其 singles out one item from a group just named - it typically follows a general statement.
- 尤为 (yóuwéi) is the more written/formal variant, used before adjectives: 尤为重要 (yóuwéi zhòngyào) especially important.
