- Formal 'to sleep / bedchamber': 寝室 (qǐnshì) dormitory room, 就寝 (jiùqǐn) to retire for the night.
- 废寝忘食 (fèiqǐn-wàngshí) = to forget sleep and meals, i.e. to work obsessively.
- 寿终正寝 (shòuzhōng-zhèngqǐn) = to die peacefully of old age.
