The oldest form is a kneeling woman holding a child, and the character has looked like that ever since.

- Good / well - 好人 (hǎorén) a good person; on a verb it marks done / ready - 做好了 (zuò hǎo le) all done, 关好 (guān hǎo) shut properly.
