乎 hū a call

How it came to be
An upright with strokes flying off the top, scattering upward: breath thrown out and going nowhere in particular. It is a noise rather than a word, so it ends sentences instead of starting them.
用法
- Classical particle, now mostly a bound suffix - 几乎 (jīhū) almost, 似乎 (sìhū) it seems, both softening/hedging.
- 在乎 (zàihu, note neutral tone) = to mind/care about - 我不在乎 (wǒ bú zàihu) I don't care.
- Reduplicated it makes vivid adjectives: 胖乎乎 (pànghūhū) chubby, 热乎乎 (rèhūhū) nice and warm.
